EDITOR’S NOTE: CARTER’S WORDS ARE IN NORMAL FONT BELOW. GREG’S WORDS ARE IN BOLD. SORRY FOR THE MONTH-LONG WAIT FOR A BETTING NEWSLETTER….WE HAD COME TO BELIEVE THIS WAS CURSED. TODAY WE STRIKE BACK.
They tried and tried again to take the pen out of my hand. It worked but luckily I have a MacBook and a proficient knowledge of type to learn. The newsletter is returning and with that so are #CatsPicks (or #CartelsPicks, name is still up for debate and suggestions are welcome). We have a loaded slate today which means there is money to be made, so let's make it.
Agree, let’s make it. #CartersBarters
First up we have Michigan State -2 vs Rutgers. I was surprised to see this number where it is at. Though Michigan State is one of the harder teams to figure out this year Rutgers has really had issues since their big home win against Purdue. Rutgers is a team that does have the capability to make some magic at home but outside of Purdue that magic has been minimal. Michigan State needs a good road win to get players back on track (specifically Gabe Brown who has struggled shooting lately). I look for some better play out of 1 of the 2 PGs today, shit maybe both who knows (would be nice) and for our frontcourt to be able to stay out of foul trouble. And if you need to wonder if State has any motivation they ALL remember what happened last year at Rutgers when we lost by 30 and only scored 40 points. Better team, motivated, and need to keep pace in the Big Ten…I like State -2.
Cart you are really setting yourself up for emotional failure here, but it’s so SO SOOOOO on-brand for you to make your first newsletter pick in two months be an obvious trap game spot for your favorite team and you take your favorite team anyway. I respect it.
Kentucky +1 vs Alabama is my next pick. I am staying strong on the fact that I think Kentucky is a team that is one of the best in the country/and a serious Final Four contender. Now my good friend Evan Maradona tells me that the analytics say that Alabama is a team that plays to the level of their opponents more than any Power 5 school in college basketball. But Alabama is a team that is soft to me and my Nate Oates agenda is forming (nice suits can’t always save you). If Oscar Tsibewe calls out screens and I think Kentucky finds a way to get a win on the road. Guard the 3 pt line and you win this game Coach Cal. Take the Cats.
HEY WE AGREE! Bama is too soft in the frontcourt, Tshiebwe will feast. Kentucky is the BEST TEAM IN THE COUNTRY WHEN HEALTHY (yes I said it).
And last but certainly not least we go with one of my favorite betting trends of the year. Fading the Memphis Tigers. We are taking UCF +6. We can keep on hoping and wishing that Memphis and Penny can be what we thought they are but it's time to face the music. THEY ARE NOT GOOD. There will be without many key components of their teams and even at full strength this Memphis team was disappointing. UCF is a team that would be capable of winning this game if Memphis were at full strength so getting it at +6 I will gladly take that number and like me I would suggest you sprinkle ML. Enjoy your 24 hours, Enjoy the basketball…or whatever Greg says.
Enjoy the day, enjoy the hoops dammit. You know the vibes. I love this pick too, Emoni Bates fled the state, who knows if any of Memphis’ four best players are playing. UCF sneaky tough. I’m with it.
My Daily Picks series currently sits at a record of 135-100 on the year. 5 picks today, dropped here:

Now to the fun stuff…two all-day parlays I played today for your viewing pleasure.
#1: A 10-teamer that pays out just over 9 to 1.
And #2: a ridiculous 15 leg that pays out over 54 to 1 with a boost I found on DraftKings.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL, LET’S WIN SOME MONEY TODAY!
And a reminder, if you haven’t signed up with all of the sportsbooks through THIS LINK, you should! You may be missing out on free bets AND in the process, you could support me and Carter and my ability to do this nonsense for a living.
