Hi, Greg here. If you’ve watched the Sleepers Podcast at all in the last year, you' may have noticed that you can see my jaw line again.
That would be because I am down 32 pounds since the birth of my daughter (“I been hot since the birth of my son” has never felt truer”). I don’t say that to brag, I say that because one of the things I have come to love about fatherhood is the routine.
Wake up, brush teeth, kiss daugther, run, procure coffee, take daughter to her grandparents’ house, podcast, edit podcast, post podcast, work, pick up daughter from grandparents’ house, return home, spend night with wife and daughter.
You may have noticed something is missing from that routine.
That would be eating. I mostly eat fruit these days, partially by my own intention, but partially because being a dad is hard work and life is busy. I genuinely, not kidding, will sometimes realize that it is like 3:15PM and I’m hungry and haven’t eaten anything yet.
Is this the most healthy thing in the world? Definitely not. But the “intermittent fasting” concept that I have implemented both on purpose and some days completely accidentally, has been a large part of the reason why I can now take my shirt off comfortably in public again.
You may have noticed another thing is missing from that routine.
That would be betting. Thank God college football is back so we have something to bet on again, but this season, I aspire to bet a little bit differently than years past.
One of the most difficult, dangerous obstacles of the college football season is Week 1 because we all just want to bet EVERYTHING. And with games on Thursday nd Friday before we even get to an all-day Saturday slate…it can be hard to avoid betting the early games that have less of an analytical edge.
But we are no longer going to bet EVERYTHING. We are going to bet the smart plays. We aren’t going to over-indulge, we are going to bet healthy. We are going to bet fruit.
Intermittent betting, you could call it.
